Springwater Corridor History

Boring DepotThe Springwater Corridor Trail and the Boring Station Trailhead Park are located within the former Portland Traction Co. streetcar right-of-way. The streetcar service operated between Portland and Estacada from 1903 until 1958. The City of Portland purchased the streetcar line right-of-way in 1990 from the Union Pacific Railroad Co. The right-of-way is approximately 100 feet wide and extends for about 21.5 miles from the Eastbank Esplanade in Portland to Boring.

The trail is paved to Rugg Road in Clackamas County, and is a compacted gravel and dirt surface from Rugg Road to Boring. Boring TrainClackamas County is working with ODOT and the City of Portland to improve and maintain the 2.25 mile trail section between Rugg Road and Boring. CCP staff hosted community meetings throughout the summer of 2008 to discuss the trail and develop the park concept plan. Clackamas County Parks has a combination of local and grant funding to complete the design, engineering and construction of the trail. The trail continues to Estacada as the Cazadero Trail. The Cazadero Trail section is owned by Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.
